As you were able to see on the last post, I was not very optimistic
last week on this match. Between wounds and suspended players, OL was
necessarily to be profoundly modified. Furthermore, the defeat in Lille did not
bode well before facing the PSG. There was a big risk of continuing to fall in
the middle of the classification.
However, OL gave an incredible show in spite of these
obstacles. We can now thinking about the tenure of certain players, like
Valbuena, which absence has certainly allowed Lyon’s players to be faster in
the counter-attacks this evening.
Certainly, the PSG also had big absentees, Di Maria and
Marco Verratti being masters to manage the team. And we have seen the effects on
the ground. Never Paris was so much knocked down this season. From the
kick-off, the balance of power was clear. On one side, united and applied Lyon’s
players. On the other side, Parisians apathetic and overtaken by events. The
PSG has never found its marks and played on a quiet rhythm when Lyon sent its
arrows to the back of the Parisian defenders. In the envy and intentions, Paris
has never stood comparison. Certain players has totally sank, just like Rabiot,
who allows himself media releases and sometimes has borderline behaviour with
his club to win game time, and who shows nothing as a permanent player.
Stambouli is not either as high as the PSG. And certain executives as Motta,
Silva or Ibrahimovic passed through their match.
Olympique Lyonnais with a huge motivation
In the other team, we saw Lyon’s players applied and
concerned by the event. Maxwell Cornet, drove crazy a Van der Wiel completely
exceeded by the event. In the middle of ground, Maxime Gonalons and especially
Jordan Ferri widely dominated the strong sector of the PSG while Alexandre
Lacazette distinguished himself by his overflowing activity. Always in movement
and ready to supply big efforts, Olympique Lyonnais began well the match with a
goal from the 13th minute of Cornet which comes to conclude a beautiful
collective action. OL continued to play, in spite of a short slackening at the
end of the first half-time. They found the strength to make the break on a
magnificent goal of Darder before half-time. It is probably his best match of
this season, and it can be a reference for him for the next games (he is
unmistakably the man of the match). In second half, OL continued to build the
game and to dominate his opponent in spite of the reduction of the score by
Lucas in the 51th minute.
Jean-Michel Aulas's club had lost four times against the
Parisians this season, and now goes back to the third place of League 1 thanks
to this success.
It is a very important victory and it will be
helpful for continuation.
